St. Louis, Mo. – Improving to 2-2-1 on the year, the Judson University women’s soccer team came away with a 3-1 win over Missouri Baptist in Missouri. Sophomore Christina Thornton (Algonquin, Ill.) had two of the three goals.
Thornton put JU on the board first with a goal in the 16th minute on an assist from Samantha Vestal (Bakersfield, Calif.). MBU tied the game at one in the 28th minute before the teams went into the locker room.Seven minutes into the second half, Thornton picked up her second goal of the game to make it 2-1. Again, Vestal laid in the perfect pass for her second assist of the game. It stayed 2-1 until the 86th minute when Baerbel Hartner (Ettrigen, Germany) netted the third goal of the game on an assist from both Thornton and Vestal.
JU out shot MBU with shots on goal, 9-6. Rebecca O’Donnell (Wheeling, Ill.) had nine saves in the win.
The Eagles will look for their first CCAC win of the year on Wednesday, September 19th, when they travel to Chicago to face Illinois Tech at 7:00 p.m.
