Elgin, Ill. – Splitting with the #5 team in NAIA Region VII, Judson University (12-16/9-5) shut out Purdue-North Central (21-14/12-3), 1-0, in game one but fell 6-0 in game two. The game one shutout was the fifth shut out of the season for Judson.

Both Scott Kainovic and Oscar DePablos were 4-of-6 in the two games combined. DePablos had one RBI.

Game 1
Judson 1, PNC 0
Kyle Kobernus pitched a complete game shut out as he recorded five strikeouts and had no walks for his fourth win of the season. After a single to start the game for PNC, Kobernus retired nine of the next 10 batters. In the fifth inning, PNC threatened with a runner on third with no outs. Kobernus proceded to get the next three batters to pop out, ground out, and strikeout to end the inning.

Judson scored their only run in the fifth inning when DePablos doubled down the left field line to score Angel Cisneros. Cisneros started the inning with a single and advanced to second on Trent Golz's sacrifice bunt. As Kevin Fischer was batting, Cisneros took third on a wild pitch.

Both Kainovic and DePablos were 2-of-3 as DePablos had a RBI and a double. Fischer stole his 17th base of the season and is now just three stolen bases away from tying the single season record of 20 held by John Michael Barbieri in 2000. Fischer is currently tied with Wood Smith who stole 17 bags in the 1973 season.

Game 2
PNC 6, Judson 0
Despite out hitting PNC, Judson could not get the hit they needed with runners in scoring position. Judson left 11 runners on base while PNC just had six.

PNC scored two runs right off the back in the first inning without a hit as the first scored on a walk and the second on a double play. In the bottom of the first inning, Judson had a chance to cut into PNC's two-run lead with a runner on third and two outs but could not bring home the run.

After four scoreless innings, PNC scored two runs in back-to-back innings in the sixth and seventh to make it 6-0. Down 6-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Judson had the bases loaded with just one out. The next two Judson batters after Zach Scipione's single to load the bases fouled out and grounded out to end the game.

Carlos Soto receives the loss as he faced just four batters in the first inning and walked three with on hit batter. Juan P. DeArmas pitched seven innings and had five strikeouts with only one walk.

DePablos, Scipione, and Kainovic all had two hits in the game as Kainovic had his third double of the season.

Judson will travel to Trinity International University for a non-CCAC game on Tuesday, April 15th, with the game starting at 1:00 p.m.
