
Elgin, Ill. – Winning their seventh and eighth games in a row, Judson University improved to 9-13 on the season and 6-2 in the CCAC with a sweep over Cardinal Stritch University (1-16/1-3), 1-0 and 5-2. JU has now swept three CCAC series on the season.
Oscar DePablos went 4-of-7 in the game with one RBI and hit in the winning run in game one.
In the sixth inning, CSU had runner in scoring position with only one out but he was picked off by Judson to end the threat.
Besides DePablos' two hits, Brett Ehrlich and Golz were the only other Eagles to pick up hits in the game. Soto won his second game of the year and is Judson's second shut out of the season.
CSU tied the game at two in the top of the fourth inning and the score stayed tied until the bottom of the fifth inning when JU had one run score. DePablos started the inning off with a triple and he came home with Zach Scipione's single.
Judson followed that with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as insurance runs came across the plate to make it 5-2. Jake Bostwick doubled to left center field to score both Rafael Tejada, Jr., and Roger Lugo.
Scott Kainovic took the win as he went seven innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. He only gave up one earned run and had one strikeout. DePablos and Fischer went 2-of-4 as DePablos crossed the plate twice. Tejada had a 2-of-2 performance with one run scored. Bostwick led the team in RBI with two.
Judson will host Trinity International University on Monday, April 7th, at 4:00 p.m. at the Hoffer Field in CCAC play.
