
Elgin, Ill. – Splitting a non-conference series with NCAA Division III Elmhurst College, Judson University took game one, 11-3, but then fell in game two, 10-6. JU is now 13-13 on the year and will host Trinity Christian College in CCAC play on Saturday, April 5th, at 10 a.m.
Debra Leganski went 3-of-6 with seven RBI in the split. Two of her three hits were home runs as she now has seven on the year.
Leganski went 2-of-3 with four RBI and two runs scored to lead Judson as she was walked once. Brenda Perry picked up her first collegiate hit with a double and also recorded her first RBIs of the season (2). Nicole Dimiceli went 2-of-4 with one RBI.
Elmhurst scored two in the top of the first inning but Leganski brought in Judson's first run with a single to left field. In the bottom of the second inning, Brittany Nicley tied the game on an Elmhurst wild pitch. Elmhurst retook the lead in the top of the third, 3-2, on a Judson error.
Elmhurst kept their lead until the bottom of the fourth when Judson erupted for six runs to make it 8-3. Dimiceli brought in the tying run with a single to right field. After Jacobson walked to load the bases, Leganski was walked to give Judson the lead, 4-3. Amy Meier made it 5-3 with a sacrifice fly and then Perry followed that with a double for a 7-3 advantage. Perry then advanced to third on a Leah Hoffman single and then scored on the next batter when there was an error on the catcher for the final run of the inning.
Lizzy Jacobson won her fifth game of the year as she went five innings and had five strikeouts.
Judson picked up their first run when Carrie Sensor scored on an Elmhurst error. Judson then made it 9-4 in the fifth inning to cut the lead to five. Leganski powered her seventh home run of the season and second of the day to make it 9-4 as Jacobson and Dimiceli both scored.
Elmhurst picked up a run in the top of the seventh inning and then Judson tried to rally in the bottom of the inning. Down six runs, Judson scored two on a Rachel Pope single to centerfield. After that, JU could not get any more runs in.
Sensor went 2-of-4 with one run scored as the only Eagle with two hits. Leganski was 1-of-3 with three RBI and Pope was 1-of-4 with two RBI. Aimee Ewert took the lose as she went 0.1 innings and gave up six runs in which four were earned. Beth Eklund finished the game and had one strikeout with three earned runs.
