
Elgin, Ill.- Becoming the first Judson University men's basketball player to be named to the NAIA All-American Third-Team is junior Dewayne Robinson (Memphis, Tenn.). Robinson is the fourth Judson men's basketball player to earn NAIA All-American status. He was also named to the NCCAA All-American First-Team and is the second season in a row to be named a NCCAA All-American.
The CCAC "Player of the Year" led Judson to their finest season, ever, as the Eagles won their first CCAC regular season title and CCAC Tournament title in the history of the program. He also help to guide Judson to their first-ever appearance in the NAIA Division II National Tournament in Missouri. Judson also had a program best seven-game winning streak, too, in the 2007-08 season.
In the NAIA, Robinson finished 10th in the nation in scoring (21.1 ppg) and 20th in field goal percentage (.558). He led the CCAC in scoring and was third in steals (1.85), fourth in field goal percentage, fifth in assists (3.26), and sixth in rebounding (6.2). He was named the CCAC "Player of the Week" three times and was also on the All-CCAC First-Team.
He led Judson in scoring in 20 of the 29 games played and recorded a career-high 34 points vs. Purdue-North Central. He scored 30 or more points in three games and had 30 points in the CCAC Tournament Championship game vs. Cardinal Stritch.
In the NCCAA, he finished second in the nation in scoring and was ninth in field goal percentage and 15th in steals. At the beginning of March, he was named the NCCAA men's basketball "National Player of the Week." He was a NCCAA All-North Central Region First-Team selection while leading the region in scoring. Last year, he was on the NCCAA All-American Second-Team and was honorable mention All-Region.
Robinson surpassed the 1,000 point career mark this season and currently has 1,334 points (12th). He is currently tied for fourth in free throws made (339), fourth in free throws attempted (500), 8th in steals (137), and 11th in field goals made (521). He needs just 338 points to move to second all-time on the Judson scoring list to surpass Andrew Burdett (1,671). The all-time leading scorer for Judson is Tom Randall with 2,381 points.
