
Elgin, Ill. – A combination of 25 hit and 26 runs in two games gave Judson University (5-13) a sweep over Indiana University-Northwest (0-10). Judson shut out IUN in both games, 9-0 and 17-0. Zach Scipione led Judson in both games as he went 5-of-6 with four RBI, six runs scored, with two doubles and four stolen bases.
Judson took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Oscar DePablos tripled to left center to bring home Kevin Fischer who started off the inning with a single up the middle. Zach Scipione followed DePablos' triple with another single up the middle to make it 2-0.
In the fourth inning, Juan P. DeArmas singled home Scott Kainovic with a hit to center field. Judson added three runs in the fifth and the sixth inning to make it 9-0. Angel Cisneros, Brett Ehrlich, and Roger Lugo all had RBIs in the fifth inning and then Ehrlich doubled home Cisneros and Scipione in the sixth inning to make it 9-0.
Scipione led the 13-hit barrage with a 3-of-4 appearance and one RBI. Ehrlich went 2-of-4 with three RBI while Cisneros and Kainovic each had two hits, too. Judson had eight stolen bases in the game with Scipione stealing three.
DeArmas received the win as he came in and pitched the final four innings and gave up two hits while striking out five. Trent Golz started the game and went three innings with three hits and five strikeouts.
Judson started the game with six runs in the first inning. Scipione doubled home Roger Lugo and Fischer to make it 2-0. Scipione then scored on a Cisneros sacrifice fly. Three batters later, Golz singled to right field as DeArmas scored the fourth run and Ehrlich the fifth run. Jacob Bostwick finished off the scoring when he batted home Golz with a single.
In the second inning, Judson added two runs for an 8-0 advantage and then pounded IUN with nine runs in the fourth inning to make it 17-0.
Five players each had two hits vs. IUN in game two as Scipione and Ehrlich were both 2-of-2 on the day. Fischer, Golz, and Bostwick each had two hits, too. Golz earned four RBI in the win followed by Scipione's three RBI.
Judson will host Cardinal Stritch in CCAC play on Saturday, April 5th, at 12:00 p.m.
