Bourbonnais, Ill. – Sweeping Olivet Nazarene University in baseball, Judson University improved to .500 in the CCAC with a 4-0 and 4-1 win. JU is now 2-2 in the CCAC and 3-13 overall. Picking up their first wins of the season were Kyle Kobernus and Alci Gonzales. Olivet is currently #6 in the NAIA Region VII poll.1

 
Game 1
Judson 4, ONU 0
Kobernus pitched a three-hit complete game shutout for his first win of the season. He went seven innings had had five strikeouts. In the second and the third innings, he retired the side.
 

Judson scored one run in the first inning when Bret Ehrlich grounded out to second base to score Oscar DePablos. Judson then added another run in the sixth inning when Ehrlich doubled in Angel Cisneros for a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles then put the finishing touches on ONU in the top of the seventh inning with two more runs. DePablos doubled to leftfield to score both Trent Golz and Nate Haberkorn.

Kevin Fischer went 3-of-3 in the game to lead Judson as DePablos was 2-of-4 and Cisneros was 2-of-3.

Game 2

ONU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning but that is as many runs as they would score in the game. Judson took the lead in the top of the fourth inning with two runs. Ehrlich doubled to right field to pick up two RBI as Zach Scipione and DePablos scored.
 

In the top of the sixth inning, Roger Lugo singled to right center field to score Ehrlich to make it 3-1. In the following inning, Scipione singled to bring home Fisher for the final score of the day.

DePablos went 4-of-4 for Judson in the win and Scipione was 2-of-4 while Ehrlich was 2-of-3 with two RBI.

Alci Gonzales pitched the entire seven innings for his first collegiate win with five strikeouts and did not give up a run. The only run that scored was unearned.

Judson will host Trinity International at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31st, in CCAC play. This will be Judson’s first home game of the year due to the weather.
