Bourbonnais, Ill. - Playing for the top spot in the CCAC, Judson University (12-8/4-2) fell short to #17 Olivet Nazarene University (20-3/2-0), 14-2 and 5-4. ONU is #1 in NAIA Region VII while Judson is #3.
Overall, Lizzy Jacobson had four hits in two games with a home run and four RBI. Kristin Krueger had two hits in game one and Deb Leganski had two hits in game two.
Game 1
ONU 14, Judson 2
ONU scored 12 runs in the first three innings to grab a 12-2 lead. In the first three innings, ONU scored four runs in each inning. Judson cut the lead to three, 4-1, in the top of the second inning on a leadoff homerun by Jacobson. Jacobson then batted in the second run of the game in the third inning with a single as Amy Meier scored.
Jacobson was 2-of-2 with two RBI while Krueger went 2-of-2. Jacobson also took the loss and fell to 4-3 on the season with two strikeouts.
Game 2
ONU 5, Judson 4
Judson's comeback fell short in game two as ONU swept the series. ONU was up 5-2 heading into the top of the fifth inning when the Eagles scored two to bring it to 5-4. Nicole Dimiceli brought home the first run of the inning when she hit into a fielder's choice to score Amy Meier. Jacobson then picked up her fourth RBI of the series with a single that scored Dimiceli.
In the top of the first inning, Jacobson batted in her third RBI of the series as she singled up the middle to score Carrie Sensor. Deb Leganski, the next batter, then singled in Dimiceli to make it 2-0. ONU answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs to tie the game. ONU then added three runs in the fourth inning for a 5-2 lead.
Jacobson went 2-of-3 with two RBI and Leganski also was 2-of-3 with one RBI. Aimee Ewert fell to 5-4 on the year with the loss and recorded three strikeouts.
Judson will host Missouri Baptist on Saturday, March 29th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Elgin Sports Complex.
