
Trinity Christian College scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie en route to the win. TCC scored a run in the second and fourth innings for a 2-0 lead. In the top of the fifth inning, Kevin Fischer hit in Scott Kainovic on a fielder’s choice to cut the lead to one, 2-1. Two batters later, Zach Scipione singled home Fischer to tie the game at two. TCC then scored three runs in the bottom of the inning for a 5-2 lead.
Oscar DePablos (2-of-4) and Zach Scipione (2-of-3) led the team with two hits each and each recorded a RBI. Carlos Soto took the loss as he went six innings and had eight strikeouts.
Coming from four runs down, TCC scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the win. Entering the seventh inning, JU had a three-run lead, 4-1, and then gave up four runs with two outs. After JU got the first two outs of the inning, there was an error and then a walk followed by four straight singles that ended the game, 5-4.
Judson scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take a quick 3-0 lead. With the bases loaded, Bret Ehrlich walked to score the first run of the game. Roger Lugo followed that with a single that scored Angel Cisneros and Scipione to make it 3-0.
In the top of the fourth inning, Trent Golz hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Scott Kainovic to push Judson’s lead to 4-0.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, TCC scored a run to make it 4-1 before putting up four runs in the seventh.
Golz took the loss in his 0.2 innings pitched. He came in for relief in the bottom of the seventh and gave up four runs which were all unearned. Seven players for Judson had one hit each and Lugo led the team with two RBI.
Judson will now host Indiana-Northwest on Friday, March 28th, at 4 p.m. at Hoffer Field in their first home game of the season.
