New Albany, Ind. - In the first day of the IU-Southeast Tournament, the Judson University softball team fell to St. Mary-of-the-Wood and IU-Southeast.  JU is now 8-6 on the season.
 
 
Game 1
St. Mary-of-the-Wood 8, Judson 6
SMW scored five runs in the fifth inning for a 5-0 lead and never lost the lead.  JU scored four runs in the top of hte 6th to cut the lead to one, 5-4, but SMW added three more runs in the top of the 7th to make it 8-4.  JU's rally fell short in the bottom of the inning as they only scored two runs.
 
Five players had two hits in Deb Leganksi (2-of-3), Brittany Nicley (2-of-3), Carrie Sensor (2-of-4), Nicole Dimiceli (2-of-4), and Kristin Krueger (2-of-4).  Lizzy Jacobson went 1-of-3 with two RBI. 
 
Jacobson also took the loss and is not 3-2 on the season and recorded one strikeout.
 
Game 2
IU-Southeast 6, Judson 1
Judson could not keep up with IUS's offense as they fell, 6-1.  Krueger went 2-of-3 and Nicley went 1-of-3 and batted in the only run for Judson in the 4th inning.
 
Aimee Ewert pitched five innings and had four strikeouts but fell to 4-3 on the year.  Elizabeth Eklund pitched the final inning.
 
Juson will face Calumet College and Anderson University on day two at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
