Elgin, Ill. – The Judson University softball team started the 2008 CCAC season off with a bang as they swept St. Xavier University. It is the first time for Judson to defeat SXU in softball and breaks a 20-game losing streak to the Cougars (as far as the Judson records show). JU is now 8-4 on the season and 2-0 in the CCAC.
Game 1
JU 4, SXU 1

Nicole Dimiceli slammed her third home run of the year in the sixth inning to make it 4-1. SXU scored the first run of the game in the first inning and then JU tied it at the bottom of the inning. JU then scored a run in the fifth inning on an Aimee Ewert single to take the lead, 2-1.

Ewert went 3-of-3 with one RBI as Dimiceli was 2-of-4 with three RBI. Brittany Nicley also went 2-of-3. Lizzy Jacobson improved to 3-1 on the year with the win and had three strikeouts with no earned runs.

Game 2
Judson 9, SXU 5

A seven-run second inning was the difference in game two as Judson took an 8-0 lead after a run in the third inning. JU added another run in the fourth to make it 9-0 but SXU fought back. SXU scored two in the fifth and three in the seventh to make it 9-5.

Amy Meier went 3-of-4 with two RBI and Carrie Sensor, Dimiceli, Jacobson, Nicley, and Kristin Krueger each had two hits. Debra Leganski smacked her second home run of the year as she was 1-of-3 with three RBI.
