Carol Stream, Ill. – In their first baseball action in the Midwest since Florida, Judson University dropped two games to NCAA Division III Wheaton College in baseball. Judson is now 1-10 on the season.
Game 1
Wheaton College 5, Judson 3
Judson took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Brett Ehrlich single to score Zach Scipione. Judson held their lead for three innings until Wheaton put up four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. JU cut the lead to one, 4-3, with two runs in sixth inning but Wheaton answered with one in the bottom of the inning to make it 5-3.
Scipione went 2-of-4 with two runs scored and Ehrlich also was 2-of-4 with two RBI. Alci Gonzales took the loss going four innings and give up three earned runs while striking out seven.
Game 2
Wheaton College 7, Judson 6
Judson comeback came up short as they were down 7-4. JU scored two runs in the sixth inning when Scipione singled in both runs. Judson took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and improved their lead to 4-1 in the second only to see Wheaton score five runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 6-4. Wheaton added a run in the fourth for a 7-4 advantage.
Scipione went 2-of-4 with four RBI and Trent Golz had two hits in three at-bats. Ehrlich recorded the other RBI. Juan DeArmos took the loss as he worked five innings and only gave up one earned run with three strikeouts. Carlso Soto pitched the last inning and had two strikeouts.
