KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For just the second time in the program's five-year history, the Judson women's cross country team received seven votes in the latest coaches' poll.

"I believe we are positioned to make a run for the top 25," first year head coach Tim Ciochon said. "The competition is very tough; but we definitely have not had our best performances yet."

Ciochon believes the individual performance that helped them obtain the recognition was by NCCAA Runner of the Week, Meaghan Gard-Ciochon at the Illinois Intercollegiate Meet in Normal, Ill. on Saturday, Sept. 14. The senior finished third in the field of 165 that included NCAA Division I, II, and III athletes along with NAIA. Gard-Ciochon was the highest NAIA finisher in the field.

The first year head coach was pleased with the performance of his leader; but understands he'll need more from everyone else to be nationally ranked.

"I expect to see significant improvements from all our runners," Ciochon said. "However, to crack the top 25 we will need to show up and compete every meet and avoid any upsets while creating our own."

The Eagles will have a couple of weeks without any competition. Judson cross country teams will be back in action on Oct. 5 in West Allis, Wis. at the Warrior Invitational.
