Judson Men's Lacrosse has made it six wins in a row with its latest 16-3 victory over Robert Morris University (IL) on Tues, April 9th. The win over RMU brings the season record to 6-1 with the lone loss coming against GRLC conference foe Missouri Baptist in the season opener in St. Louis. When asked about the 6-1 start to the 2013 season, Head Coach A.J. Collier had this to say "We are very excited about the team that we have assembled this year, we have always played solid fundamental lacrosse with defense being our mainstay. This year we have added several players that fit into our defensive system but bring a new level of offensive firepower. This is a very exciting time for Judson Eagle Lacrosse."

With a balanced attack Judson rings up 16 while only giving up three to RMU. The Judson attack notched 10 of the 16 goals with Soph Landin Baron scoring 5 with one assist and Junior transfer Taylor Stark ripping rope with 4 goals and a pair of assists. Team Captain Junior Josh (Elmo) Elmore had six assists to bring his GLRC Assist leading total to 26 so far this season. Senior Tim Casson added a goal and an assist of his own.

 

The middies had plenty to brag about on their own. With GRLC conference leading Face Off Specialist Lucas Mackey out for the game these duties fell on the shoulders of Senior Jeff Lee who went 7-10 and Soph Jake Ettelbrick who won 6 out of seven face offs. Every single midfielder contributed with goals, assists or both with Fresh Philip Lindsay leading the way with 3 goals and one assist. Lee, Ettelbrick and Soph Mike Wallace each scored once while an injured Senior Jeff Acton added an assist to his seasons stats. The JU midfielders won the groundball battle racking up 16 contested gb's.

 

Giving up only 3 goals in a very impressive feat and couldn't have happened without the efforts of a solid defensive trio. Lead by standout defensive newcomer Junior Frank Falcone who moved from midfield due to injuries to several Judson defensemen. Fresh Zack Salvati and Soph newstick Tyler Gainer shut down the RMU attack and held them to only 10 shots that only found the back of the net three times. Fresh Goalie Blaize Diaz made his fourth consecutive start and was stellar between the pipes making 7 saves while only giving up three. Blaize continues to climb the GRLC stat charts moving up to third with a save percentage just shy of 62%.

 

The Eagles next game is this Saturday, April 13th at noon at the friendly confines of Dawson Field. Where they take on powerhouse DePaul University. Judson is 0-2 against GRLC foe DePaul.
