Ormond Beach, Fl. Opening the 2008 season with intense competition, Judson University dropped a double header to #21 Missouri Baptist. This was the season opener for the Eagles in the Ormond Beach College Baseball Jamboree.
It was nice to be outside to play. It took us a little bit of time to get adjusted but once we did we played better, says head coach Rich Benjamin. I was proud how the team came together as the day went on.
In the first baseball action outside for the 2008 season, it took Judson some adjusting as the fell, 4-0. Kyle Kobernus pitched the complete game in the loss and recorded eight strikeouts with nine hits and three earned runs.
Oscar DePablos led Judson with two singles while Bret Ehrlich had a single. MBU picked up three runs in the third and one in the sixth inning.
Judson scored one in the first and two runs in the sixth for their three runs. Alci Gonzales took the loss as he went just one inning and gave up four this and six earned runs. Juan De Armas pitched the final five innings and only gave up one run in the fourth inning with three strikeouts.
Judson will play a nine inning game on Tuesday vs. #24 Dickinson State.
