Deerfield, Ill. – Cutting the lead to six, 38-32, Judson was in position to make a run to take the lead but Trinity International’s (15-16) defense took over not allowing another made shot from the floor for 10 minutes. In those 10 minutes, TIU out scored JU, 18-5, and held JU to just three made free throws. Judson ended their scoring drought from the floor with 2:33 left in the game as TIU went on for the 57-41 win.

Theresa Larson led Judson with 12 points followed by Kirstin Johns with 11. Alicia Rovertoni grabbed 13 rebounds. TIU’s Jonke Stewart-Butler led all scorers with 22 points.

TIU took a 14-point lead just over a minute into the second half on a Stewart-Butler lay up off of a Reanna Perera steal. In the next two minutes, Judson reeled off eight straight points to bring TIU’s lead down to six, 33-27. In the run, Johns and Rovertoni each scored four points.

By the 14:48 mark, TIU pushed their lead back to 10, 37-27, on a Krystle Reed lay up. Again, in just two minutes, Judson out scored TIU, 5-1, to bring the lead down to six, 38-32, as Johns grabbed the offensive rebound and put it back up for two.

From that point on, Judson did not hit a shot from the floor until the 2:22 mark. In those 10 minutes, Judson missed five shots and went 3-of-10 from the foul line.

Leading from the opening bucket, TIU took a 15-2 lead in the first six minutes of the game. JU’s Larson hit the first shot of the game just 2:34 into the game and then the Eagles did not hit another shot from the floor for five minutes. With 13:45 left in the half, TIU had a 15-2 lead. Kelly Friestad made one-of-two from the free throw line with 12:43 left to make it 15-3 and then Crystal Goodall cut TIU’s lead to 10, 15-5, with 12:19 on the clock.

Judson got as close as seven, three different times, but couldn’t get any closer in the first half as TIU took a 31-19 lead at the half.

Judson ends the season shooting poorly as they did not shoot out of 30% in any category. They shot 35% from the floor, 33% from the three-point line, and only 36% from the free throw line. TIU finished shooting 43% making 38% from three-point land and making 57% from the stripe.

TIU out rebounded JU, 36-33, and forced 22 Judson turnovers with 14 steals. Judson had nine steals and three blocks in the loss.

Judson loses senior’s Kelly Friestad, Theresa Larson, and Jaime Schaufel and finishes the season at 12-17. Friestad finishes her career at #8 overall on the all-time Judson list for assists.
