Judson 9, St. Francis 3- Box

 

Elgin, Ill.- On the cold and rainy day, the Judson University Lady Eagles soccer team pulled through for a lopsided victory over the University of St. Francis. Judson won the match 9-3, while coming from behind twice in the game. In the second half, Judson erupted scoring 8 goals pushing them ahead.  

 

In the first half, with a steady downpour and the ball skipping around St. Francis started the scoring with a goal within the first 15 minutes. Then Judson answered with a goal of their own when Angela Bianchi dribbled passed the defense and scored from the 18 yard line.  In the 37th minute, the persistent Saints pushed through with another goal going into half with a lead of 2-1.

 

With the never quit attitude, the women erupted for 8 goals in the second half.  The Lady Eagles scored 5 goals within less then 10 minutes of play. The scoring started  in the second half with the time at 51:07 when Bianchi getting a pass of a free kick from Lauren Opolony. Only a minute later, Jamie Kats got a break away and with no one around her just inside the 18 pushed it passed the goalie.  Keeping the scoring run going, Kats found Pricilla Jara who scored off a turn around shot from the 18 yard line.  To put Judson up 5-2, Chandler Evans snuck her pass past the defense to Jenna Steffensen who dribbled her way to a goal.

 

Continuing the rampage of scoring , Kristina Barreto found Bianchi for her 3rd goal of the day.  After St. Francis netted their third goal Judson came back with vengeance when Lauren Opolony was assisted by Bianchi. The scoring wasn't finished yet, Jenna Steffensen found herself in a breakaway then gave it up to Bianchi who scored her 4th goal of the game.  To finish off the scoring Kaylee O'Brien connected with Opolony for her 2nd goal of the game.

 

Judson is now 11-3 overall and 5-2 in conference.

 

The Lady Eagles will play next on October 16th against Roosevelt University at Toyota Park at 3:30 p.m.
