Elgin, Ill. – In another exciting week for Judson University men’s basketball, Dewayne Robinson was named the CCAC Player of the Week for a third time this season. Judson will also host a CCAC Tournament game on Thursday, February 28th, vs. Calumet College.
For the third time this season, Robinson picked up the award for his one-game performance against Trinity Christian. His 17 points helped to guide Judson to their first-ever CCAC Regular Season Championship and complete a worst-to-first turnaround in the CCAC. He hit key shots throughout the game in the 78-69 win over TCC and hit his last five free throws of the game. He completed a three-point play with just 70 seconds left in the game to help Judson insure the lead.
With the win, Judson received a first-round bye in the CCAC Tournament and will now host Calumet College on Thursday, February 28th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lindner Fitness Center. Calumet College advanced from the first round with a 78-75 win over Trinity International. In the two meetings this season between CC and Judson, Judson claimed wins. The first game took place in Hammond, Indiana, and Judson came from behind for the 82-71 win. With less than 10 less in the game, Judson was down six and went on a 20-7 run over seven minutes for the win. In their second meeting, Judson once again held off an attacking Calumet team. Judson came away with a 92-91 win after being up by as many as 17.
The winner of the game will advance to the CCAC Tournament Championship game and a chance to go to the NAIA National Tournament in Branson, Missouri.
