Judson 3, St. Xavier 4

 

Chicago, Ill.- In a thrilling overtime battle, the women's soccer team fell to St. Xavier University 4-3.  In the first half, the Lady Eagles went up early 2-0 but the tough conference foe was persistent, later to lead the game 3-2.  Not giving up easily the Lady Eagles came back with a goal of their own to send the game into overtime.  Finally, in the second overtime, St. Xavier scored off a deflected save by Sara Hoffman ending the match 4-3.

 

Starting the scoring early, Angela Bianchi got a cross pass from Jenna Steffensen within the first 3 minutes of the match. Then, in the 10th minute, Jamie Kats assisted Bianchi again who got a slow roller past the goalie. After St. Xavier came roaring back to go up 3-2, Pracilla Jara scored from two yards away, tying the match up 3 all. There would be no scoring until St. Xavier got a goal off of a deflected save by Sara Hoffman

 

Sara Hoffman collected 6 saves on the day keeping Judson in the game.

 

The Lady Eagles are now 9-3 overall and 3-2 in conference.

 

The Lady Eagles will play next on October 10th at Calumet College at 3:00 p.m.
