Elgin, Ill. – Garnering awards for their accomplishments this season, the Judson men’s basketball team took two of the top awards in the CCAC along with three First-Team selections. Head coach Jim Cook was given the “Coach of the Year” and Dewayne Robinson named the “Most Outstanding Player.”
 

Being named to the All-CCAC First-Team were Robinson, Ilija Bojanic, and Justen Boyd. Joe Gonnam was awarded to the All-CCAC Honorable Mention team.

 

In his final season as the men’s head basketball coach, Cook claimed the “Coach of the Year” for turning around the Eagles. Last season, JU finished 1-9 in the CCAC and finished in last place. This season, he guided Judson to their first-ever CCAC Championship with a 10-2 record. Judson started off the CCAC with a perfect 6-0 record in the first round of play of the CCAC and went to 7-0 before losing their first game in the CCAC. Judson also set a school record for most consecutive wins at seven.

Picking up the CCAC “Most Outstanding Player” award is Robinson. He lead the CCAC in scoring the entire season with an average of 20.8 points per game. He is also fourth in field goal percentage (53.1%), steals (1.8 spg) and assists (3.3 apg), fifth in rebounding (6.3 rpg), and 10th in free throw percentage (69%). Against Purdue-NC, he had a career-high 34 points and has recorded two double-doubles this year. He has been named the CCAC Player of the Week, twice. Earlier in the season, he surpassed the 1,000 point career mark.

Bojanic is fourth in the CCAC in rebounding (7.2 rpg) and sixth in scoring (14.4). He is also 5th in blocked shots (0.92), 9th in three-point field goals made (1.42), and 13th in three-point field goal percentage (30%). This season, he has been named the NCCAA National Player of the Week and CCAC Player of the Week, once. Scoring a career-high 24 points vs. Cardinal Stritch, he has five double-doubles on the year and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds vs. Trinity International. He is averaging 14.4 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game.

Leading the CCAC in assists at 4.9 assists per game, Boyd was also named to the All-CCAC First-Team. Currently in the CCAC he is second in field goal percentage (57.8%) and assist/turnover ratio (1.94), 14th in scoring (12.5 ppg), and 15th in free throw percentage (63.4%) and steals (1.2). He has been named the NCCAA National Player of the Week and CCAC Player of the Week, once, this season. He scored a career-high 35 points in 40 minutes played against Trinity International and had a career-high 13 assists vs. Purdue-NC. One of his best shooting performances came in the last game of the season when he made 83% (10-of-12) of his shots from the floor scoring 27 points.

Claiming All-CCAC Honorable Mention is Joe Gonnam. In the CCAC, Gonnam is currently sixth in rebounding (6.0 rpg) and steals (1.63 spg), eighth in blocked shots (0.63), ninth in field goal percentage (52%), and 26th in scoring (8.6 ppg).

Judson will be vying for their first-ever CCAC Tournament Championship in the upcoming week. They will host a second round game on Thursday, February 28th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lindner Fitness Center.
