Elgin, Ill.- Adding more talent to the 2008-09 class, associate head coach Tony Tompkins has added two more players for next season. Both Junquil Barrett (Aurora, Ill.) and Mike Wood (Wheaton, Ill.) have chosen to continue their collegiate careers at Judson after playing for COD’s Don Klaas. Tompkins now has three signees as he enters his first year as the head coach.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 


Barrett is a point guard and a strong guard that will be coming from the College of DuPage. He has been the team defensive player of the year and had several games in which he has scored in double figures. He is the son of Alisa Spraggins and will major in business management. He graduated from West Aurora High School in 2004.
 

Wood has played two years at COD and has helped the team to a NJCAA Regional IV Championship and to the NJCAA National Tournament. Last season, COD finished third in the nation with a 25-10 record. In high school at Glenbard South, he was captain of his team and received the Glenbard South Raider of the Year award. He was named to an All-Tournament team and to the Glenbard West Thanksgiving Tournament team. His career-high was 18 points and he averaged nine points, five rebounds, and three assists per game. He is the son of Mike and Jill Wood and has three siblings.

Both players are coming from a junior college powerhouse in the College of DuPage under Don Klass. Klaas has won over 600 games in his 29 years at COD. He has won 12 conference championships and won the NJCAA National Championship in the 2001-02 season.

Judson is currently in first place in the CCAC with an 8-2 record and are 15-8 overall. They set a school record for consecutive wins earlier this season at seven. They will host Calumet College on Saturday, February 16th, in their final home game of the season at 7:30 p.m.
