ELGIN, Ill. – Six athletes will compete at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships in Ohio this weekend trying for an individual NAIA National Championship and All-American status. This is the first time that Judson has had six individuals running at the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
The national meet will take place at the SPIRE Institute Track and Field Sports Complex in Geneva, Ohio, from March 1-3. This is the second year that the national meet has been in Geneva, Ohio.
Sarah Dede is veteran of the pack as she returns for a second time to the national meet competing in two categories. She is 11thin the triple jump at 36'8.25" and 21stin the long jump at 17'9.75." The Distance Medley Relay team of Sarah Miller, Marilyn McDougall, Kristal Pitts, and Gabby Nystrom are 26that 12:47.25. Also going with the team as an alternate runner is Tess Tyton.
Dede competed last year in the NAIA National Indoor Meet in the triple jump and long jump were she was seated in the top 25.
Pitts and Tyton also have NAIA National Meet experience as they ran in the 2011 NAIA National Outdoor Meet in the 4x800 meter relay team. Miller, McDougall, and Marcelain will be competing in their first-ever NAIA National Indoor meet. Miller has also seen the national level of competition as she ran at the 2011 NAIA National Cross Country meet after qualifying at the CCAC Championships.
Two weeks ago, Dede earned NCCAA All-American status as she was second in the triple jump and third in the long jump at the NCCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships. Judson finished seventh at the NCCAA National Meet.
