
Elgin, Ill.- Kelly Friestad fired home 21 points for a career-high as she led the Judson University women’s basketball team (8-12/3-2) to a CCAC win over Trinity Christian College, 64-54. JU has now won three of their last four games.
Scoring 16 of her 21 points in the second half, Friestad led all scorers with 21 points. Devonaye Henderson added 16 for Judson while Brittany Kolenbrander had 16 fro TCC.
TCC cut Judson’s lead to one, 45-44, with 6:24 left in the game but JU answered with a 13-2 run for 12-point lead, 58-46. Friestad had five of the 14 points while Henderson had six. JU also hit 6-of-8 free throws in the final 52 seconds to help secure the win.
TCC had as large as a seven point lead in the second half, 31-24, but JU had a 19-7 run over eight minutes to take five-point lead, 43-38.
Judson had a nine-point lead in the first four minutes of the game, 9-0, and kept their distance until the final seven minutes. JU had a 15-8 lead with 6:59 to go in the half, but TCC finished on a 14-6 run for a 22-21 lead at the half.
