Hammond, Ind. – Never giving up the lead the entire game, the Judson University women’s basketball team (7-12/2-2) evened their mark in the CCAC with a 72-48 win over Calumet College. JU had a 15-point lead at the half before finishing with the 24-point win.

After CCSJ tied the game at two, JU reeled off seven straight points for a seven-point lead, 9-2. CCSJ scored the next five points to come within two. That is the closest that CCSJ would come the rest of the game.

With 11:54 left until the half, CCSJ brought JU’s lead down to four, 18-14, only to see JU answer with a 7-1 run for a 10-point lead, 25-15. JU took a 20-point lead, 36-16, with 2:38 left for their largest lead of the half.

JU opened the second half with a 13-6 run to push their lead to 24, 54-30, on a Johns jumper. CCSJ cut JU’s lead to 16, 56-40, with a 10-2 run over five minutes. The Crimson Wave then came within 15, 61-46, with 7:13 to play. From that point, JU out scored CCSJ, 10-2 for a 23-point halftime lead.

Making 50% of their shots from the three-point line, JU finished shooting 43% from the floor and 66% from the free throw line. CCSJ finished just 30% from the floor and three-point land. JU forced 22 turnovers and had 13 steals and four blocks. JU also out rebounded CCSJ, 35-30.
