ELGIN, Ill. – Hosting their annual Dig Pink match, the Judson University volleyball team held a triangular meet with Trinity Christian College and St. Ambrose University.  Judson went 0-2 on the day and is now 9-23 on the year.

 

Judson fell to St. Ambrose, 3-1, 25-21, 17-25, 17-25, 22-25, and then to CCAC member Trinity Christian, 3-1, 25-21, 15-25, 21-25, 19-25.  In each match, Judson won the first set before dropping the final three.

 

Kirsten Kohlstedt (Byron, Ill.) led Judson with two double-doubles as she had 58 assists and 21 digs on the day.  Carissa Oelke (Oregon, Ill.) finished with 16 kills and 25 digs while Kylee Koon (Planfield, Ill.) had 14 kills, Danielle Sladek (Lockport, Ill.) 13 kills, and Taylor Anderson (Plano, Ill.) 12 kills.  Taylor Lesner (Algonquin, Ill.) finished with 34 digs.

Taking the first set, 25-21, Judson fell in the next three, 25-17, 25-17, 25-22.  Judson had the lead in the fourth set, 19-13, but St. Ambrose came roaring back to score the final 12 of 15 points for the match win.  Karissa Groharing (Byron, Ill.) led the team with seven kills while Kohlstedt had 17 assists and 10 digs for her first double-double of the day.  Lesner led the team with 39 digs while Oelke had 17 digs.  Groharing also had four blocks and Anderson had five blocks.  Judson hit only .024 in the match with 27 kills.

 

Trinity Christian 3, Judson 1

Match two on the day mirrored much of match one as Judson fell in four sets after taking the first set, 25-21.  In sets two through four Judson fell, 25-15, 25-21, 25-19.  Kohlstedt had her second double-double of the day with 41 assists and 11 digs.  Oelke and Koon each had 12 kills while Lesner provided 12 digs and Courtney Martin (Eureka, Ill.) had 11 digs.  Judson hit .210 with 50 kills and had a .250 hitting percentage in set two. 

 

Judson will have their last home match on Tuesday, October 25th, at 7:00 p.m. against Illinois Tech.
