Michigan City, Ind. – Burning down the nets in Indiana were the Judson University Eagles (8-6/1-0) as they made 59% of their shots in a 102-71 win over Purdue-North Central (4-13/0-1). Judson also made 10-of-22 three-pointers for 45% on their way to the century mark for the first time this season.

For the third time this season, all five starters finished in double figures as Dewayne Robinson led all scorers with 28 points. Two players finished with double-doubles in Joe Gonnam and Steffan Williams. Gonnam had 15 points and 13 rebounds while Williams scored 10 points and dished out a career-high 11 assists. Justen Boyd added 14 points and Illija Bojanic had 13 points. PNC’s Terry Polk had 23 points.

Jumping on Judson early, PNC took a 5-0 lead in the first 1:44 only to see the Eagles respond with a 8-0 run as Robinson had four of the eight points in just over two minutes. PNC fought right back with their own 6-0 run to regain the lead, 11-8, with 13:23 left in the half.

A three-pointer by Robinson tied the game at 11 and then each team exchanged free throws to tie the game again at 12. Tyler Moore gave PNC the lead back with 11:22 on the clock only to see Robinson tie the game a third time at 14 just 25 seconds later. After that tie, JU took control of the game with a 20-2 run in just over five minutes to make it 34-16. In the run, JU made three of their 10 three-pointers with shots from Boyd, Bojanic, and Gonnam. JU pushed their lead to 26, 52-26, with 26 seconds left in the half. PNC scored the final four points to make it 52-30 at the half.

PNC brought JU’s lead down to 20, 56-36, but that is as close as the Panthers would come to the Eagles. Boyd gave JU a 31-point lead on a three-pointer with 14:10 left in the game. Bojanic put JU up by 34-points, 90-56, their largest lead, at the 7:43 mark. JU shot the best in the second half by going 22-of-35 from the floor for 62%.

Overall, Judson shot 59% from the floor and 45% from the three-point line while making 10-of-13 from the foul line. They held PNC to 11% from three-point land and 42% from the floor. JU forced 14 turnovers and had nine steals while out rebounding PNC, 37-31.

JU will be back in action on Saturday, January 12th, when they host Cardinal Stritch at 7:30 p.m. in CCAC play at the Lindner Fitness Center.
