Parkville, Mo. – Cutting the lead to four, 81-77, with just 16 seconds to go, Judson University (7-6) missed their last two shots while Park University (10-7) made a free throw and their last shot to take an 84-77 win. JU was as close as two in the second half but did not take the lead.

Dewayne Robinson (Memphis, Tenn.) scored 20 or more points for the 10th time this season with 24 points. Steffan Williams (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) had 15 points followed by Chris Oates (Streamwood, Ill.) with 12 and Justen Boyd (Batavia, Ill.) with 11.

Williams opened the game with a three-pointer for Judson’s only lead. PU scored the next 10 points to take a seven-point lead. JU answered with a 10-1 run to cut the lead to one, 14-13, and then tied the game at 19 and 21. PU had a 5-0 run to make it 26-21 with 8:15 left in the half. JU once again cut the lead to one, 32-31, with a 10-5 run only to see PU end the half on a 6-0 run to make it 38-31 at the half.

PU kept their distance in the second half until the 12:27 mark with Boyd hit a layup to come within two, 45-43. PU pushed their lead back to eight, 51-43, at the 11:05 mark and then had a 10-point lead, 67-57, with just 5:13 left in the game. JU had a 9-2 run in just over a minute to bring PU’s lead back to three, 69-66. Again, PU shot right back at JU with a 9-3 run for a nine-point lead, 78-69, with 56 seconds left. In the next 40 seconds, JU had an 8-3 run to again be within four points, 81-77, with 16 seconds left. After PU hit a free throw to extend the lead to five, JU missed a three-pointer and then PU finished off the fast break with a dunk to make it 84-77.

JU shot 43% overall and 30% from beyond the arc but made 73% of their free throws. PU finished shooting 53% from the floor and 71% from the foul line while making 28% from the three-point line. PU out rebounded JU, 36-34, but JU forced 15 turnovers and had 11 steals.

Judson will open CCAC play on Wednesday night in Indiana when they face Purdue-North Central at 7:00 p.m.
