
Parkville, Mo.- Down by just five at the half, Judson University (5-10) only shot 26% in the second half as Park University (8-10) outscored JU, 38-17, to finish with a 68-42 win over the Eagles. JU finished shooting 36% from the floor.
Kirstin Johns (Belvidere, Ill.) and Theresa Larson (Newark, Ill.) led Judson with 13 and 12 points. Johns added five rebounds as did Kelly Friestad. PU’s Jacqueline Greer led all scorers with 19 points.
Judson committed 28 turnovers in the loss that led to 23 point for Park and were out rebounded, 54-32. After shooting 47% in the first half, JU shot a dismal 26% and finished shooting 0-for-9 from three-point land.
With four ties in the first half, JU gave Park a run. JU took a 6-2 lead in the first two minutes on a layup from Larson. PU scored the next seven points to take a three-point lead, 9-6. With 14:09 left, Devonaye Henderson (Ellenwood, Ga.) tied the game at 11 only to see PU retake the lead with a three-pointer at the 13:00 minute mark. Henderson cut the lead to one, 15-14, on two free throws less than a minute later and then Larson put JU ahead with a jumper, 15-14 (11:43). That is the last lead that Judson would see. JU went on to tie the game at 17 and 21. With 5:47 left in the half, Alicia Rovertoni (Columbia, Ill.) tied the game at 21 but PU finished the half on a 9-4 run to take a five-point lead, 30-25.
PU started the second half on a 14-6 run in the first six minutes for a 13-point lead, 44-31. JU did not recover from that run as PU went onto the 68-42 win.
Judson will start CCAC play on Saturday, January 12th, when they host #17 Cardinal Stritch University at 5:30 p.m. in the Lindner Fitness Center.
