
Manitowoc, Wisc. – A strong shooting performance by Judson University (6-5) propelled the Eagles to a 96-73 win over Silver Lake College (2-7). JU made 59% of their shots in the game while making eight three-pointers.
For the second game in a row, Judson had four or more players score in double figures. All five starters finished in double figures with Chris Oates and DeWayne Robinson scoring 27 and 25 points respectively. Justen Boyd had 16 points and Steffan Williams and Andrew Ream each had 12. Boyd led the Eagles with eight rebounds and five assists. SLC’s Willie Howard had 17.
Leading from the opening bucket, Judson never let SLC have command of the game. SLC tied the game at two and was within single digits the first five minutes. With 16:26 on the clock, SLC trailed JU by one-point, 10-9. JU’s offense came alive at this point with an 18-4 run to take a commanding 15-point lead, 28-13. In the run, Oates had eight of the 18 points.
Robinson gave JU a 20-point lead, 38-18, at the 9:29 mark but then saw SLC put a run together to cut the lead to 12. In four minutes, SLC had a 12-4 run to make it 42-30. That is as close as SLC would get as the Lakers only hit three shots from the floor in the final five minutes. They went into the half down 19, 56-37.
JU kept their distance in the second half. JU took their largest lead of the game of 27, 68-41, on a Williams three-pointer at the 16:22 mark. SLC did bring the lead down to 18 but never could catch the Judson offense.
Judson forced 18 turnovers for 25 points and had 10 steals in the game while shooting 59% from the floor. JU made 38% of their three-point shots and shot 41% in the first half. SLC finished shooting 44% and out rebounded JU, 36-34.
