JOLIET, Ill. - Sarah Dede and Caleb Sutton became Judson University's first-ever All-CCAC track athletes in field events as the success of the men's and women's track programs continues to grow. Dede won the triple jump and long jump while Sutton won the high jump.
The women scored 81 points to finish fifth of eight teams and was just seven points off of being the fourth place team. The men's team finished in fourth place with 55 points and was just 15 points from third place behind Trinity Christian.
Dede led the way for the women by scoring 25 points. She picked up 20 points with first place finishes in the triple jump (34'4") and long jump (17'1"). She then had five points in the 100 meter hurdles for third place (17.29). Paige Lindsley recorded four points for a fifth place finish in the 100 meter dash (13.28; 5th) while Carissa Oelke had 11 points for third in the 200 meter dash (28.35) and fourth in the high jump (4'10"). Kristal Pitts added five points with a fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash (1:03.97) and Meaghan Gard provided three points for the 800 meter run (6th; 2:29.05). Kim Peek finished sixth in the 1,500 meter run for three points (5:06.65) and Morgan Kimball was sixth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (14:05.16). Shannon McNab finished out the individual scoring with a seventh place finish in the discus for two points. Judson also had 19 points in the relay races.
Sutton led the men with 19 points winning the high jump clearing 6'2" for 10 points. He was then second in the triple jump (42.1") for eight points and eighth in the long jump (17'1") for one point. Kyle Julian was eighth in the 800 meter run (2:02.84) and the 1,500 meter dash (4:17) for two points. Robert Altenburger came in fourth place in the 400 meter hurdles (1:03.33) for five points and Gavin Fleagle was second in the pole vault clearing 12'5" for eight points. Josiah Smith then took fourth in the javelin throw (117'4) for five points. Judson then received 10 points in the relay competitions.
Judson will now prepare for the 2011 NCCAA National Meet in May as they host the championships in Joliet, Ill.
