Judson 11, St. Francis 3 - Box

JOLIET, Ill. - Shelling out 11 hits for 11 runs with three home runs in the University of St. Francis Invitational, Judson University defeated the host St. Francis, 11-3, to improve to 15-7. Judson's six-run third inning was the difference in the game after being down 2-0.

Haley Secor pitched the final four innings with one strikeout and no walks as she picked up the win. Sarah Boyer started the game and went two innings with just one hit given up and no runs on three strikeouts.

At the plate, the Judson bats were hot , again, as they had three home runs and one double. Emily England led Judson with three hits while Nicole Dimiceli and Hallie Niewold had two hits each. Niewold finished the day going 2-of-2 with four RBI and a home run. Erin Stankus had one big hit in her first home run of the year for three RBI. Dimiceli then offered two RBI with her fourth homer of the year. Brittany Holm and Amanda Hart both added one RBI.

St. Francis jumped on Judson early with two runs in the top of the first inning. Judson did not respond until the third inning when they erupted for six runs. Hart, the third batter of the inning, singled to third base to score Niewold who walked to start the inning. Dimiceli followed with a two-run shot to take the lead, 3-2, and then three batters later Holm earned her RBI in the game on a single up the middle. Niewold followed two batters later with another single up the middle as both Holm and Carrie Sensor scored for the 6-2 lead.

Responding with one run in the top of the fourth inning, St. Francis came within three, 6-3. In the fifth inning, Judson added two more runs for the 8-3 advantage. With two outs, Secor walked and then Niewold belted her third home run of the year for the seventh and eighth runs of the game. Dimiceli and England both had hits to start the sixth with Stankus finishing off the scoring sending her first home run over the fence in left field for a 11-3 lead and ended the game.

Judson will play Harris-Stowe State University and the University of St. Francis (Ind.) on Saturday, April 2nd, in Joliet, Ill.
