ELGIN, Ill. - Erupting for 23 runs and 31 hits while not giving up any runs, the Judson University softball team opened up CCAC play in fashion over Cardinal Stritch, 15-0, and 8-0. Judson scored in seven of the 11 innings played with a 10 run inning in game one. Judson is now 11-6 and 2-0 in the CCAC.

Sam Gladen (Cary, Ill.) and Sarah Boyer (McHenry, Ill.) both received the wins and had six strikeouts each. Gladen gave up five hits in six innings worked while Boyer only had one hit in the fifth inning for her third win of the year. Glade improved to 4-2 and only walked one batter.

Concetta Lampugnano (Bartlett, Ill.) and Emily England (Atlanta, Ill.) each had five hits on the day. Carrie Sensor (Elgin, Ill.) and Gladen also provided four hits. England and Amanda Hart (Marengo, Ill.) both had three RBI.

Game 1
Judson 15, Cardinal Stritch 0

Scoring the most runs in the history of the series, Judson put up 10 runs in the sixth inning entering the inning with only a 5-0 lead. Sensor and Gladen both went 3-of-4 to lead Judson. Lampugnano, Hart, Nicole Dimiceli, and England all had two hits. Gaining two RBI were Hart, Dimiceli, England, Sensor, and Niewold. Brittany Holm (Johnsburg, Ill.), Gladen, and Kristen Krueger (Palatine, Ill.) had one RBI.

Judson scored two runs in the second and third innings for the 4-0 lead. Sensor was the first run on a wild pitch and then Krueger had her only RBI of the day with a single to the shortstop as Gladen scored. In the third inning, Sensor doubled down the left field line as Holm scored and then Gladen followed with a RBI single. In the fourth inning, Dimiceli singled up the middle to score Krueger.

The sixth inning was the big inning as 10 runs were scored on 10 hits. Dimiceli singled in the first run of the inning and then Hart came home on a passed ball to make it 7-0. Two batters later Holm singled in the third run of the inning and then Sensor followed with a single to the same spot for the fourth run and a 9-0 lead. Niewold, who was two batters after Sensor, had a long single down the right field line to bring in two RBI and three batters later Hart singled for another two runs. England finished out the scoring with another single to score two runs to put Judson up 15-0.

Game 2
Judson 8, Cardinal Stritch 0

Judson picked up where they left off in game one with 14 hits and eight runs. Boyer pitched a one-hit shutout giving up the lone hit fifth inning. Lampugnano, England, and Erin Stankus (Naperville, Ill.) each had three hits. Lampugnano led with three RBI while Stankus had two RBI and Hart, Gladen, and Sensor all had one RBI.

Putting up three runs in the second inning, Stankus had two of the three runs with a double to left center field scoring Gladen and England. She was the fourth batter of the inning and only had one out when she had the hit. Three batters later, Lampugnano singled to the shortstop and scored Holm to make it 3-0.

Two innings later, in the fourth inning, Judson added four more runs for a seven-run lead. Lampugnano had her second RBI on the day with single to left field as Stankus crossed the plate. Hart followed with a single that each scored a run to make it 5-0 and then two batters later England added the sixth run of the game with another single. Gladen finished out the scoring with the sixth hit of the inning as Dimiceli was the seventh run of the game.

Lampugnano recorded her third RBI of the game in the fifth inning on a single to left center field to bring in Stankus for the final of 8-0.
