Kansas City, Mo.- Adding more awards to an outstanding season, Judson University claimed national awards from the NAIA. Three players were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes along with another as an All-American

For the second season in a row, sophomore Christina Thornton (Algonquin, Ill.) was named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention team. Thornton, who led the CCAC in goals per game (0.89), made the team last year as a freshman.

She was nominated for all-American after being a NAIA Region VII First-Team selection. She has scored two or more goals in six matches and recorded three goals vs. Bethel College. She also had the game winning goal over then #12 Trinity Christian College. She was also named to the All-CCAC First-Team for the second year in a row. She now sits third all-time on JU’s career list for goals at 39 and fourth in points with 92.

Picking up the NAIA Scholar-Athlete Awards were senior’s Amy Jenkins (Grayslake, Ill.) and Sarah Schmitz (Elgin, Ill.) and junior Amber Bocquin (Shawnee, Kan.).

Judson finished the year at 11-7-2 while winning their first-ever CCAC Tournament Championship. They were also the #1 team in the NAIA Region VII Tournament.
