SXU 91, Judson 70 - Box
 

Chicago, Ill. – A strong shooting presence by St. Xavier University (6-1) was enough to lead them past Judson University (3-3), 91-70. The loss ends JU’s three game winning streak.

Judson had four scorers in double figures with DeWayne Robinson leading the Eagles for the sixth straight game recording 21 points. Steffan Williams had 13 followed by Ilija Bojanic with 12 and Justen Boyd adding 10. Bojanic led JU with seven rebounds. SXU’s Alok Aiyor had 22 points to lead all scorers.

Shooting out of the gates was Judson in the first half as they were up, 9-4, in the first four minutes. SXU came roaring back with an 11-0 run in just two minutes for a 15-9 advantage. Judson came back to within two, 15-13, at the 13:33 mark but that is as close as the Eagles would come the rest of the game. In the next six minutes, SXU out scored JU, 21-9, for a 14-point lead, 36-22. JU fought right back with their own 8-0 run to come with in six, 36-30, on a Robinson lay up at the 3:54 mark. In the final minutes of the half, SXU put up nine points to JU’s five for a 45-35 lead at the half.

Robinson brought SXU’s lead to eight, 45-37, in the first 20 seconds of the second half only to see SXU go on a 10-3 run in the following two minutes to make it 55-40. Bojanic put JU within 10, 55-45, with a three-pointer at the 15:55 mark. Once again, SXU responded and out scored JU, 31 to 14, over 11 minutes for a commanding 27-point lead, 86-59. JU finished the game on a 11-5 run to make it, 91-70.

JU finished shooting 49% from the floor but only 37% from three-point land and 56% from the free throw line. SXU shot 45% from the floor and 46% from the three-point line while hitting 70% of their free throws. SXU forced 20 JU turnovers and out rebounded the Eagles, 38-34.

Judson will host Indiana-Northwest on Friday, November 30th, at 8:00 p.m. in the Judson Tournament.
