
Mt. Pleasant, Iowa – Taking a commanding lead from the beginning of the game, #18 Iowa Wesleyan College (4-3) claimed a 73-50 win over Judson University (2-4). IWC ran out to a 20-6 lead in the first six minutes of the game.
JU was led by Alicia Rovertoni (Columbia, Ill.) with her first double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Theresa Larson (Newark, Ill.) also had 11 points for Judson. IWC’s Kayleigh Epps lead all scorers with 29 points.
IWC raced out to a 20-6 lead in the first six minutes and then pushed their lead to 26 just before halftime. Three straight free throws by Ashley Cheairs (Gary, Ind.) in the final two minutes cut the lead to 42-19 at the half.
The first 10 of the second half did not go Judson’s way as IWC kept up their offensive pressure. IWC took a 41-point lead, 68-27, with just under 10 minutes left in the game. JU did not give up as they battled back. In the final 10 minutes, JU outscored 23-5, to bring the game to and end at 73-50. In the run, Rovertoni had six of her 11 points.
JU will take on their second ranked team in a row as they travel to Chicago, Illinois, on Tuesday, November 28th, to face #6 St. Xavier at 6:00 p.m.
