DUBUQUE, Iowa - Scoring their best finish in year two of the program, the Judson University men's golf team finished second at the Clarke University Invitational. Judson shot a 317 in the one day tournament and was just 10 strokes off of winner AIB Community College.
Head coach Chris Watson says, "I am just so excited about this team. They have come so far from year one and did a great job today. It's going to be an exciting year."
Newcomer sophomore Lucas Mulholland (Mt. Vernon, Iowa) finished second with a 75 just four strokes off of medalist Jacob Thomas from AIB. Following Mulholland in the top 10 was junior Caleb Hess (Oregon, Ill.) in a tie for sixth (79) and junior Scott Minta (Naperville, Ill.) with an 80. Senior Eric Suits (Elgin, Ill.) tied for 13th (83) and sophomore Zach Gasior (Johnsburg, Ill.) had an 88.
On the JV side for Judson, the team was sixth out of eight teams. C.J. Kool (Eureka, Ill.) posted an 86 to finish in 18th. J.R. Schultz (Crystal Lake, Ill.) shot a 90 for a tie in 25th and was followed by Curtis Christensen (N. Liberty, Iowa) in 28th (92), Joe Caruso (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) in 31st, and Jeff Cohn (Hampshire, Ill.) with a 104 (37th).
Judson will next compete on Tuesday, September 7th, at Loras College Fall Invitational.
