Greensville, S.C.- Given the highest award in men’s soccer from the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association is Judson University senior men’s soccer player Steven Moldenhauer. Moldenhauer is the recipient of the NCCAA’s Kyle Rote, Jr. Player of the Year award.

Moldenhauer helped to lead Judson to a 15-5-3 season and served his team well both on and off the field of play. With one the NCCAA’s and the NAIA’s stingiest defenses, the Eagles, ranked most of the season in the NAIA Top 25 and NCCAA Top 5, and have been led in the central defense by Moldenhauer. His composure and outstanding leadership have proven priceless given the strong schedule faced by Judson this season. Moldenhauer led the Eagles into the NAIA National Tournament for the fourth year in a row this week. His teammates have recognized his leadership by selecting him as team captain each of the past three seasons.

He was recognized as Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year and placed on the all-CCAC First-Team in 2005 and 2007. He was the key player in the Eagles’ six shutouts this year and he has been involved in all 37 shutouts the Eagles have posted since 2004. He has been recognized as an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and has been selected to the NCCAA North Central First Team in each of the past three seasons.

The Senior Business Administration major from Charlotte, North Carolina, has also served His Lord and Savior by being a member of the Charlotte Eagles program of using soccer as a ministry tool in the United States and around the world. Most recently he has served in a homeless assistance program and through a food shelter in the Elgin, Illinois area.

A part of a historic class, Moldenhauer helped JU to four straight CCAC regular season titles, CCAC Tournament Championships, NAIA Region VII Championships, and NAIA National Tournament appearances. In four seasons, JU went 74-14-6 and had a perfect regular season in 2004.
