ELGIN, Ill. - Heading into her second year as head coach for the volleyball team, Jill Pearce has seven new players that have signed for the 2010 season. These seven athletes will continue to build the foundation for Judson volleyball.

Signing to continue their career at Judson are Danielle Sladek (Lockport, IL/Lockport Township HS), Taylor Anderson (Plano, IL/Sandwich Community HS), Melissa Ernst (Middleton, WI/Madison College), Michelle Tolar (Elmhurst, IL/York Community HS), Kirsten Kohlstedt (Byron, IL/Byron HS), Bette Jean Poulter (Morrison, IL/Sterling Christian HS), and Kara Flikkema (Delavan, WI/Faith Christian HS).


Danielle Sladek
Lockport, Illinois l Lockport Township HS

Won three letters for Julia Hudson…will play the middle hitter position…was a two-year starter…earned all-Conference honorable mention…helped team to a perfect conference record of 13-0 in 2008 to win the championship…team also won conference championship in 2006 and 2007…also played basketball…four-year Honor Roll student and member of the National Honor Society…daughter of Daryl and Stacey Sladek…born on January 4, 1992…will major in physical education.


Taylor Anderson
Plano, Illinois l Sandwich Community HS

Three-year letter winner for Mindy Davidson…is a middle blocker…two-time all-Conference selection…named to Beacon News honorable mention team in senior season…won top serving award in junior season…top offensive player for team in senior season…participated in DCP SAFE, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, and Spanish Club…member of honor roll all four years…is the daughter of Brad and Pam Anderson…born on December 8, 1991…will major in business.


Melissa Ernst
Middleton, Wisconsin l Madison College l Middleton HS

Madison College: Played for Toby Parker…NJCAA Division III All-American first-team…NJCAA National Tournament All-Tournament team…NJCAA Region IV All-Tournament team and All-Region…helped team to NJCAA Division III championship game and finished second…team won the Rochester tournament…helped team to 29-7 record…voted team captain and team MVP…North Central Community College Conference (NCCCC) MVP and All-Conference…was on College of DuPage and Kankakee C.C. All-Tournament teams… led the team in kills (333 - 3.00 per set) and digs (269 - 2.42 per game) and was second in attack percentage (.264) and fourth in blocks (39)…in program history ranks second all-time in kills in a match (23), third in season kills (333), fourth in career kills (411), seventh in season attack percentage (.264) and eighth in career digs (397)…in first season played in 55 games and had 78 kills, 39 assists, and 128 digs…was on the Dean's List and the Phi Theta Kappa honors society.

Middleton HS: Won three letters for Franco Marcos…three-time all-Big 8 Conference…all-Conference honorable mention as a sophomore and senior and second team as a junior…captain of her team in senior season…helped team to two IHSA Regional Championships in 2003 and 2004…participated in yearbook as assistant editor, captain's table, president of the fashion and design club, and volunteered with the Lion's Club…member of the National Honor Society..daughter of Paul and Francine Ernst…born on May 2, 1988…will major in communications with emphasis in business.


Michelle Tolar
Elmhurst, Illinois l York Community HS

Played two years of volleyball…member of freshman and sophomore volleyball teams…member of Student Council and PRIDE…daughter of Paul and Marianne Tolar…born on February 13, 1992.


Kirsten Kohlstedt
Byron, Illinois l Byron HS

Lettered three years for Becky Hull…two-time all-Conference first-team as a setter…two-time team captain and team MVP…earned team's spirit and hustle award…won 62 games in three years on varsity…helped team to conference championship in senior season with 21-17 record…team went 19-7 as a sophomore and 22-14 as a junior…member of Key Club, Math Team, WYSE Team, and Be the Change Committee…earned National Honor Society honors and is an Illinois State Scholar…daughter of Mike and Sharon Kohlstedt…born on May 5, 1992…will major in English.


Bette Jean Poulter
Morrison, Illinois l Sterling Christian HS

Lettered for coach Molly Cook…won several team awards in best server and setter, team MVP, best dig percentage, most points scored on serves, most assists, and most aces…voted all-Conference second team…two time Christian Character award recipient…also lettered in basketball…helped team to two NCSAA National Championships…voted most improved player on her team…given Citizenship Award and Student of the Month…also enrolled at Sauk Valley CC as a senior and made Dean's List, President's List, and earned two certificates in digital media arts and graphic design specialist…daughter of Steve and Louise Poulter…born on July 24, 1992…will major in graphic design.


Kara Flikkema
Delavan, Wisconsin l Faith Christian HS
Won a combined 11 letters in volleyball, basketball, and softball…played for coach Krista Bensheimer…two-time all-Conference…named to three all-Tournament teams…named most improved player on her team…was a two-time all-Conference selection in basketball and first-team selection in softball…two-time team MVP for basketball and most improved player…helped volleyball, basketball, and softball teams to conference championships…volleyball team won the conference tournament championship…member of band, yearbook, photography, art, and youth group…daughter of Brent and Brenda Flikkema…born on January 27, 1992…is the sister of former Judson volleyball player Alesha Wyman.
