
ELGIN, Ill. - Finishing off their last home game of the year with a CCAC double header sweep of Purdue-North Central, Judson University is now 33-19 on the year and 20-10 in the CCAC. Judson took game one, 15-8, and then held on for a three-run win in game two, 8-5. Judson finishes in fourth place in the CCAC.
Zach Liebman and Kyle Murphy received the wins for Judson as Liebman won game one and Murphy game two. It was Murphy's first win of the year and Liebman's fifth win. Zach Williams picked up his first career save in game two pitching the final inning.
Liebman went four innings for the win giving up just three earned runs on five hits. Jeremy Winnan, Kevin Carmody, and Jason Egli all worked one inning each with Winnan striking out three batters.
At the plate, Judson had six doubles and Andy Parsill had two of them. Parsill, Nate Rohl, Matt McHenry, and Williams all had two hits. Rohl and Parsill recorded two RBI to lead Judson. Johnny Amann, Brian Brauer, McHenry, Giovanni Cantwell, Derek Shomon, and Levi Pippenger all contributed one RBI.
Judson won their program best 33rd game with an 8-5 win. After a scoreless inning to start the game, Judson put five runs on the board in the second inning and then made it 8-2 in the fourth inning with three more runs. Purdue-North Central scored three runs in the top of the fifth to come within three.
Murphy pitched the fourth inning for the win as he did not give up any hits but had one earned run. Joe Huenecke started the game and went three innings striking out one batter and giving up just one hit and one earned run. Ed Draper came in for the fifth and sixth innings and let only three hits go with one earned run. Williams then made his first pitching appearance of the year in the seventh inning receiving his first career save striking out two batters.
Mike Krueger led Judson at the plate with two hits and Paul Zarlengo had two RBI on one hit. Also adding one RBI were Nick Norris, Krueger, Williams, Steve Janezic, and Gary Capolino.
Judson will travel to Lincoln Christian on Friday, May 7th, in Lincoln, Ill., to finish out their regular season with a double header at 1 p.m. Judson will then play in the CCAC Tournament that will start on Monday, May 10th, at St. Xavier University.
