Judson 4, Trinity Christian 2 - Box

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - Concetta Lampugnano collected all four RBI for Judson University as they won their 30th game of the year over Trinity Christian, 4-2, in the first game of the CCAC Tournament. This is the first-time, ever, for a Judson softball team to win 30 games. Judson is now 30-25 on the year.

As the #4 seed, Judson scored two runs in the third and fourth inning to come from behind for the 4-2 win. Judson was down 1-0 after the top of the third inning and scored two runs in the bottom to take the lead for good, 2-1. They then held off a late Trinity Christian rally in the top of the seventh to advance in the tournament.

Lampugnano led Judson at the plate going 2-of-3 with four RBI and one run scored. Five other players had one hit. Lampugnano's two hits were a home run, her 11th of the year, and a double. Lizzy Jacobson won her 16th game of the year going all seven innings with five strikeouts and giving up two earned runs on five hits.

After Trinity Christian took the 1-0 led in the top of the third, Judson struck for two runs in the bottom of the inning. After a pop out for out number one, Kristin Krueger singled to get on base. Lampugnano then stepped up and poked a shot over the left field fence for her 11th home run of the year to make it 2-1. Then, in the bottom of the fourth, with two outs, Lampugnano doubled to left centerfield as she drove in both Hallie Niewold and Allison Catlett.

In the top of seventh, Trinity Christian hit a home run to start the inning to cut the lead to two. They also had runners on second and third base with the winning run at bat with two outs but Jacobson finished the game on a strikeout.

Judson now will play #1 seed Olivet Nazarene at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 6th.
