St. Xavier 13, Judson 1 - Box

CHICAGO, Ill. - With the bats going silent in a double header loss to St. Xavier University in CCAC play, Judson University fell to 29-19 on the year and is now 16-10 in the CCAC. St. Xavier took both gamees, 15-4 and 13-1 in shortened games.

Game 1

St. Xavier 15, Judson 4

Judson gave up 10 runs in the first three innings to St. Xavier as the Cougars scored in every inning for the 15-4 win. After scoring six runs in the first inning, Judson did cut the lead to three, 6-3, in the top of the second only to give up two runs in the bottom of the inning and then two more in the third to make it 10-3.

Mitch Smith took the loss for Judson going 2.2 innings giving up 11 hits and six earned runs. Kevin Carmody finished the final 1.1 innings and had five hits and five earned runs.

Giovanni Cantwell led Judson with a 3-of-3 performance at the plate with a home run and one RBI. Brian Brauer and Nate Rohl had two hits each and Johnny Amann had two RBI with a two-run home run.

Judson scored three runs in the second on two home runs. Cantwell had a solo shot and then Amann swatted a two-run home run to make it 6-3. Judson's other run came in the fourth inning on a Rohl single scoring Brauer.

Game 2

St. Xavier 13, Judson 1

Judson dug a deep hole in the bottom of the first inning as St. Xavier put up eight runs. St. Xavier then added three runs in the third and two in the fourth for their 13 runs. Judson did have one run in the second inning as Levi Pippenger singled in Mike Krueger.

Judson had two hits the entire game as Pippenger and Rohl each had one. Stefan Alinkas took the loss going 2.1 innings with six hits and six earned runs. John Banks, Kyle Murphy, and Jason Egli all pitched in the game.

Judson will host St. Xavier for Senior Day on Saturday, May 1st, at 7:00 p.m. in a single nine-inning game at Hoffer Field.
