ELGIN, Ill. - Winning their 25th game of the year in game one of a double header against Oakland City (15-18), Judson University run ruled the Mighty Oaks, 12-1. Judson then fell in game two, 13-6, after giving up 11 runs in the final two innings. Judson needs just six more wins to break the single season record for wins which was set last year at 30.

Mitch Smith received the game one win going all five innings and then Jason Egli was given the loss in game two. Brian Brauer had five hits in two games to lead Judson.

Game 1

Judson 12, Oakland City 1

Judson scored in every single inning to put Oakland City away in five innings, 12-1. Smith gave up only one run in five innings with one strikeout and no walks. Brauer had three hits going 3-of-4 with three RBI while Nick Norris also added three hits. Levi Pippenger and Johnny Amann also provided two hits each. Amann recorded two RBI while Pippenger had three and Andrew Parsill, Matt McHenry, and Ben Vincent added one RBI.

Parsill singled home Amann for the first run of the game in the first inning. Judson then had four runs each in the second and third innings. Vincent tripled in Nick Norris for the second run of the game which was followed by a double by Pippenger and a single by Amann. Both hits brought in runs to make it 5-0.

In the third inning, Oakland City had their only run of the inning to cut the lead to four, 5-1. Judson responded with four more runs for the 9-1 lead. Pippenger recorded two of the four runs in the inning with a triple to center field that scored Norris and Nate Rohl. Amann followed Pippenger's lead with a single to score Pippenger and then Brauer singled in Amann to make it 9-1.

Williams started off the fourth inning with a triple and Matt McHenry hit a sacrifice fly for the 10th run of the game. In the fifth inning, Brauer had a shot over the left field fence for his fourth home run of the year to end the game, 12-1.

Game 2

Oakland City 13, Judson 6

After taking a 6-1 lead, Judson gave up 11 runs in the final two innings fall, 13-6. Judson scored six runs in the second inning and then only gave up two in the next three for a 6-2 advantage. Oakland City took the lead, 7-6, in the top of sixth and then added six more in the top of the seventh for the 13-6 win.

Judson used four pitchers in the loss as Joe Huenecke went four innings and gave up only one earned run with three strikeouts on four hits. Kyle Murphy pitched the fifth inning and had one strikeout, one hit, and one run. Jason Egli, who received the loss, was only in for 0.1 innings and had one strikeout but gave up five runs. Kevin Carmody finished the final 1.2 innings and recorded five hits, six runs, and one walk.

Three players led Judson with two hits in Derek Shomon, Ben Vincent, and Nick Norris. Norris and Brauer each had two RBI while Zach Williams had one.

Norris tripled in the first two runs of the game as Shomon and Vincent touched home plate. Norris reached home on an Oakland City error for the third run and two batters later Brauer added two more RBI on the day with a single as Amann and Pippenger both came in. Williams finished off the scoring with a single up the middle to make it 6-0.

Oakland City took advantage of Judson's relief pitching in the sixth and seventh innings tagging them for 11 runs and a win.

Judson will face Oakland City again on Saturday, April 17th, at 1:00 p.m. in a double header at Hoffer Field.
