JOLIET, Ill. - Breaking the University of St. Francis six-game winning streak in game two of the CCAC double header, Judson University won 7-4 in game two after falling 8-4 in game one. Judson is now 20-18 on the year and 6-8 in the CCAC.

Game 1

St. Francis 8, Judson 4

Judson took a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning before St. Francis put up five runs in the next three innings. Judson made it 5-2 in the top of the sixth but St. Francis added three in the bottom of the inning for the 8-2 lead. Judson then added two more runs in the top of the seventh.

Lizzy Jacobson took the loss for Judson pitching the entire game. She gave up four earned runs, eight overall runs, and 11 hits. She also led the team in hitting going 3-of-3 with one RBI. Nicole Dimiceli had two hits. Allison Catlett recorded two RBI and Sam Gladen brought in one RBI.

Catlett brought in the first run in the first inning on a sacrifice bunt that had Carrie Sensor cross the plate. After St. Francis had a 5-1 lead, Judson added another run in the sixth inning on a Gladen single that scored Dimiceli.

Two more runs were scored in the top of the seventh as it was too late for a rally. Jacobson hit in the first run with a double to left field and then Catlett followed that with a single to score Dimiceli.

Game 2

Judson 7, St. Francis 4

Picking up a key win in game two, Judson scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning for the win. Judson jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning before St. Francis tied up the game in the bottom of the seventh. St. Francis scored one in the third, two in the fifth, and one in the seventh to send the game to extra innings.

Hallie Niewold pitched the final three innings for the win as she gave up just one earned run with three strikeouts on three hits. Sarah Boyer started the game and went five innings recording six strikeouts with two earned runs and six hits.

Carrie Sensor and Brittany Holm both went 3-of-4 as Sensor had two RBI and Holm one RBI. Kristin Krueger had two hits and two RBI and Nicole Dimiceli recorded two RBI.

Holm's single in the second inning scored the first run of the game and then Krueger followed her with a single to make it 2-0. Two batters later, Dimiceli had a single through the left side scoring Krueger and Sensor to make it 4-0.

St. Francis slowly crept back into the game and then tied it at four in the bottom of the seventh inning. The tie did not last long as Judson hammered out three runs in the top of the eighth inning. With two outs, Krueger doubled in Niewold to break the tie. Sensor then stepped up to the plate and delivered with a single up the middle as Krueger and Holm came in for the final two runs.

Judson will host NCAA Division III Calvin College on Friday, April 16th, at 5:00 p.m. at the Judson Softball Complex.
