
DEERFIELD, Ill. - Winning their 19th game of the year in game two of the CCAC double header, Judson won 9-3 over Trinity International. Judson fell in game one, 2-1, as Lizzy Jacobson took the loss. Hallie Niewold pitched the final four innings of game two for the win. Judson is now 19-17 on the year and 5-7 in the CCAC.
Game 1
Trinity International 2, Judson 1
Scoring the winning off a Judson error in the bottom of the seventh inning, Trinity International took the game 2-1 for only their second CCAC win of the year. Jacobson received the loss as she is now 8-5 on the year. She recorded seven strikeouts and gave up seven hits. Judson produced only three hits in the loss.
Judson scored their only run in the third inning when Carrie Sensor grounded out to bring in Kristin Krueger. Trinity International tied the game in the bottom of the third and then took the win in the bottom of the seventh.
Game 2
Judson 9, Trinity International 3
After two scoreless innings, both teams scored in the third inning. Judson took a 1-0 lead before Trinity International put up three runs for the lead. Judson responded with two in the fourth, five in the sixth, and one in the seventh for their nine runs.
Hallie Niewold pitched the final four innings of the game for the win recording three strikeouts and only giving up one hit and no runs. Sarah Boyer started the game and went three innings with three strikeouts, four hits, and three runs.
Judson was led by Kristin Krueger's three hits as one was a triple. She also had one RBI. Concetta Lampugnano and Nicole Dimiceli each had two hits as Lampugnano produced two RBI and Dimiceli one.
Krueger was Judson's first run in the third inning as she scored on an error. Trinity International then produced three runs in the third to take a two-run lead, 3-1. Judson responded with two runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game at three. Krueger then hit in the first run of the fourth inning as Haley Secor touched home plate. Lampugnano then tied the game at three as Danielle Curylo came in on a single.
Taking the lead for good in the sixth inning, Judson put up five runs for an 8-3 lead. Krueger once again scored on an error in the sixth for the first run of the inning. Dimiceli then singled in Lampugnano and Sensor then stole home for the third run of the inning. Secor and Allison Catlett both scored on an error four batters later. Lampugnano had a sacrifice fly in the seventh scoring Krueger to finish off the scoring.
Judson travels to Joliet, Ill., on Thursday, April 15th, to face St. Francis in a CCAC double header at 5:00 p.m.
