
BENSONVILLE, Ill. - Playing very competitive CCAC baseball, Judson University (23-12/13-4) split with Robert Morris (22-12/9-6) on the road. Robert Morris took game one, 13-8, but Judson bounced back to take game two, 3-2.
Robert Morris 13, Judson 8
Judson came back to take a 7-3 lead only to let Robert Morris back in the game with six runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 9-7. Judson then gave up four more runs in the sixth as they fell, 13-8. Zach Williams went 2-of-3 with two RBI. Also providing two RBI were Johnny Amann and Nate Rohl while Brian Brauer and Giovanni Cantwell had one RBI.
Robert Morris took a 3-0 lead in the first two innings but Judson put up seven runs in the top of fourth to take the 7-3 lead. Cantwell brought in the first run of the game for Judson with a single to left field that advanced Williams home. Two batters later, Amann singled in both Cantwell and Matt McHenry to tie the game at three. After Brauer was walked to load the bases, Rohl singled to right center field to bring in Amann and Levi Pippenger to make it 5-3. Williams, who started the inning, finished off the scoring with a single as both Rohl and Brauer scored. Judson then gave up six runs in the bottom of the inning and never recovered. Judson did score one in the top of the seventh when Brauer doubled in Amann for the eighth run.
Zach Liebman went three innings and gave up seven earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Joe Huenecke pitched 0.2 innings and had two hits for two runs. Jason Egli finished the final 2.1 innings and gave up four earned runs on four hits while recording two strikeouts.
Game 2
Judson 3, Robert Morris 2
Jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first three innings, Judson University held onto the win, 3-2. John Banks pitched the complete game win with four hits, four strikeouts, and two earned runs. Matt McHenry and Levi Pippenger each had two hits while Pippenger provided two RBI. Andy Parsill had one RBI, too.
With two outs in the top of the second, Pippenger tripled down the right field line to score both Parsill and McHenry. In the third inning, Parsill received his RBI with a sacrifice fly to right field as Rohl trotted home for the third run. Judson then held onto the lead giving up just one run in the third and the fifth inning.
Judson will host Robert Morris at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14th, in a single nine-inning CCAC game at Hoffer Field.
