ELGIN, Ill. - A call at the plate decided game one and game two brought a 10-run win for Judson University (22-11/12-3) as they split their CCAC double header with Trinity Christian College. Trinity Christian won game one, 4-3, as Brian Brauer was thrown out at the plate on a double steal attempt and then Judson bounced back to take game two in five innings, 11-1. Judson also had three home runs on the day as Nate Rohl hit two and Johnny Amann had the other.

In a controversial call at the plate, Brian Brauer was tagged out on a double steal attempt to end the game, 4-3. Nick Norris was stealing second when the catcher made the throw leaving the plate open for Brauer. That led to the throw home where Brauer was called out and in a collision at the plate that could have gone either way. Judson had a 3-1 lead heading into the seventh when Trinity Christian scored three to take the 4-3 lead.

Mitch Smith received the loss and is now 3-3 on the year. He went 6.2 innings and gave up eight hits, three earned runs, and recorded two strikeouts. Matt McHenry went 3-of-4 with two RBI while Brauer had two hits and one RBI.

Trinity Christian scored one run in the first for the early 1-0 lead. They held onto the lead until Judson put up three runs in the fifth inning. Brauer singled in the run to tie the game at one as Ben Vincent scored and then three batters later McHenry brought in two runs with a single to right field.

Judson had their chances in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game but could not get the run to come in.

Judson scored early with three runs in the first inning and then scored eight runs in the final three innings to finish the game in five innings, 11-1. Stefan Alinkas improved to 3-2 on the year as he gave up nine hits, one earned run, and had three strikeouts. Nate Rohl went 3-of-4 with five RBI and two home runs. Johnny Amann had two hits, one was his fifth home run of the year, and one RBI while McHenry had two hits, too. Levi Pippenger and Brauer each had a RBI.

Zach Williams brought in the first two runs of the game with a triple to right center field as McHenry and Amann scored. Rohl, who was the very next batter, singled up the middle to make it 3-0 as Williams touched home plate.

After two scoreless innings, Trinity Christian scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning. Judson responded with three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and four in the sixth to end the game. Judson's runs in the fourth came on an error, a sacrifice fly by Pippenger, and a single by Brauer.

In the fifth inning, Rohl smacked his first of two home runs as he hit a shot over dead center field that went about 430 feet. In the following inning, Amann started it off with a home run that just bounced off the top of the fence down the left field line to make it 8-1. Four batters later, with two runners one, Rohl crushed the ball about 440 feet over the left field scoreboard into the river to finish off the game, 11-1.

Judson will travel to Chicago, Ill., on Tuesday, April 13th to face Robert Morris University at 5:00 p.m.
