
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - Playing tough back-to-back series on opposite days, Judson University ran out of steam and were swept by Olivet Nazarene University in CCAC play. Judson fell in game one, 10-2, and let game two slip away in the bottom of the seventh, 9-8. Judson is now 14-12 on the year and 2-6 in the CCAC. Olivet Nazarene is receiving votes in the NAIA National Poll and is now 22-2 on the year and 2-0 in the CCAC.
Game 1
Olivet Nazarene 10, Judson 2
Judson started the game off with two runs in the first inning and held onto a 2-1 lead until the bottom of the third inning when Olivet Nazarene took the lead for good, 3-2. Olivet Nazarene then tagged seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game in five innings.
Sensor, who was the third batter of the first inning and with two outs, singled to get on base. Nicole Dimiceli stepped to the plate and thwarted her sixth home run of the year for the 2-0 lead. Those runs were the only ones of the game for Judson.
Olivet Nazarene then scored one in the bottom of the first and took the lead for good in the bottom of the third.
Concetta Lampugnano, Sensor, Dimiceli, Hayley Secor, Allie Catlett all had one hit for Judson. Lizzy Jacobson took the loss for Judson going 4.1 innings and giving up 10 earned runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts.
Game 2
Olivet Nazarene 9, Judson 8
Olivet Nazarene came from behind to claim the sweep as they scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, Olivet Nazarene's Junge singled to bring home both runners from second and third to win the game.
Olivet Nazarene took a 1-0 lead in the first inning only to see Judson tie the game in the top of the second. A Sam Gladen single brought home Secor to tie the game. Olivet Nazarene answered in the bottom of the inning with three runs for a three-run advantage, 4-1.
Judson fought back quickly with three of their own runs in the top of the third to tie the game at four. After Lampugnano grounded out, Catlett reached on an error and then Sensor made it two runner on base on a fielder's choice. Dimiceli then hit her second home run of the day to tie the game with a three-run shot over the left field fence.
Adding two more runs in the top of the fourth inning, Judson took their first lead of the game 6-4. Kristin Krueger started the inning by grounding out but Catlett followed that by getting on base through an Olivet Nazarene error. Lampugnano cracked her fourth home run of the year in the next at bat to give Judson the lead.
Judson's lead did not last long as Olivet Nazarene tied the game at six in the bottom of the inning. Judson then retook the lead, 7-6, in the top of the fifth on a Gladen groundout that scored Secor from third. Judson held the lead until the bottom of the sixth when Olivet Nazarene tied the game for second time in the game at seven.
In the top of the seventh, Dimiceli sent her eighth bomb of the year out of the park for the one-run lead. Judson then gave up the two runs in the bottom of the inning falling, 9-8. In the game, Judson had five errors and left five runners on base.
Dimiceli, Secor, Hallie Niewold, and Gladen all had two hits. Dimiceli's hits were both home runs while posting four RBI. Catlett also homered and had two RBI. Secor's two hits were both doubles. Niewold took the loss and is now 2-2 on the year. She gave up five earned runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts.
Judson will host NCAA Division II Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday, April 2nd, at 2:00 p.m.
