ELGIN, Ill. - Completing the three-game sweep by taking the CCAC double header, Judson University stayed atop of the CCAC with 10-1 and 5-4 wins over Calumet College (2-21/1-6). Judson is now 17-9 and 7-1 in the CCAC and has won six in a row and eight of their last nine games.

Game 1

Judson 10, Calumet 1

Judson scored five runs in the first two innings and then added two more in the fourth and three in the sixth inning for a 10-1 lead. Brain Brauer led the hitting attack going 4-of-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Mitch Smith went the distance for the win and had five strikeouts giving up one earned run on six hits. Brauer, Ben Vincent, and Levi Pippenger all had doubles while Zach Williams had a triple.

Williams brought in the first two runs of the game with his triple to right center field to score Brauer and John Banks. Matt McHenry then stepped up and singled through the right side to bring in Williams for the 3-0 lead.

In the second inning, Brauer had his second hit of the game as Vincent came home for the fourth run of the game. Amann and Brauer then pulled off the double steal to make it 5-0.

Judson added two more runs in the fourth inning for the seven-run lead. Vincent was the first to score in the inning on a Calumet error. Brauer then added his third RBI of the game with a single through the left side to score Amann. In the sixth inning, Calumet scored one but then Judson added three more runs. Brauer doubled to center field as the third batter of the inning bringing in Levi Pippenger. Amann then scored on an Andy Parsill ground out and then Williams finished off the scoring with a ground out scoring Brauer.

Game 2

Judson 5, Calumet 4

Ben Vincent was the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning when he came home on a Calumet College wild pitch. Both Zach Williams and Vincent went 2-of-4 for Judson while Krueger, Brauer, and Amann each had a RBI. Ed Draper moved to 4-0 on two innings of work to finish the game. He had one strikeout and two hits with no runs. Stefan Alinkas went six innings for the no decision and had two strikeouts and two hits with two earned runs.

Judson got on the board first with one run in the first inning. McHenry singled in Williams for the first run. Calumet tied the game at one in the third but then Judson added two more in the bottom of the inning to make it 3-1. Amann tripled as the second batter of the inning to score Pippenger and then Brauer followed that with a sacrifice fly to bring in Amann.

Giving up two runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game, Judson retook the lead in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-3. Krueger had a sacrifice fly to bring in Williams after he got on base with another triple. Judson then gave up one run in the top of the seventh inning before gaining the win in the bottom of the eighth on the wild pitch.

Judson travels to Trinity International University on Wednesday, March 31st, for the final game of the three-game series.
