
ELGIN, Ill. - Fire power from the offense with a great backing from the pitching crew led to a CCAC double header sweep of Trinity Christian (2-10/0-2) for the Judson University softball team. The highlight of the night came for freshman Sarah Boyer as she finished a five-inning perfect game in a 13-0 win. Judson is now 11-7 on the year and 2-2 in the CCAC while winning five of their last six games.
Game 1
Judson 6, Trinity Christian College 1
It took the offense the entire game to finally put some major runs on the board but Judson University pulled away in the sixth inning for the 6-1 win. Nicole Dimiceli made it 1-0 in the second inning with a home run to left center field. Concetta Lampugnano then made it 2-0 on the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to score Sam Gladen.
Jacobson pitched six shutout innings before giving up a run in the seventh and pitched three straight innings of perfect ball to start the game. She finished with three strikeouts for her fourth win of the year.
Sensor and Catlett both went 2-of-3 for Judson as Catlett led the team with three RBI. Also adding a RBI were Lampugnano, Dimiceli, and Jacobson.
Game 2
Judson 13, Trinity Christian 0
Sarah Boyer made her presence known in the CCAC after a five-inning perfect game. No runners reached base as she had six strikeouts in the win. Judson put up five runs in the first and third innings and then scored three runs in the fourth inning.
Jacobson and Catlett both went 3-of-3 with each one recording a RBI. Adding two hits were Lampugnano, Haley Secor, and Kristin Krueger. Lampugnano and Secor led the team with three RBI while Curylo and Krueger had two RBI and Niewold added one.
Judson started quickly with five runs in the first inning. All five runs were scored with two outs as Jacobson started the rally with a single to center field to score Curylo. Niewold followed Jacobson with a single as Sensor made it 2-0. With the bases loaded now, Secor cleared the bases with a double to left field as Judson's offense was clicking for the five-run lead.
Two innings later, Judson posted another five runs to make it 10-0. Catlett once again brought in a run with one out as BrittanyHolm came in from third base. Two batters later, Krueger singled in Catlett for the second run of the inning. An error allowed Krueger to score and then Curylo lofted a deep shot to dead center field for her second home run of the year to finish off the scoring.
The final three runs came in the fourth inning as Krueger singled with the bases loaded as Niewold crossed home plate. Lampugnano followed with a single up the middle that brought both Catlett and Secor for the final runs of the game.
Judson has a tough task on hand next as they travel to Bourbonnais, Ill., to face Olivet Nazarene in a CCAC double header game on Thursday, March 25th, at 3:00 p.m.
