ELGIN, Ill. - Heart and determination, along with some clutch hitting for Judson University, led to the CCAC double header sweep of Trinity International University (14-8/2-3), 4-3 and 3-0. Judson came back to win in extra innings in game one and the Zach Liebman threw a complete game shutout in game two. Judson has now won five of their last six games. Coming into the game, Trinity International was a top the CCAC with a 2-1 record after the first series of play.

Game 1

Judson 4, Trinity International 3

Judson forced extra innings after scoring one run in the bottom of the sixth inning and then provided clutch hitting in the bottom of the eighth inning for the one-run win. Mike Krueger singled up the middle to score Jeremy Winnan as Judson came from two runs down for the 4-3 win. Zach Williams tied the game up just before Krueger with a sacrifice fly to right field that brought home the tying run in Nick Norris. In the sixth inning, Matt McHenry hit his first of two home runs on the day to tie the game at two.

McHenry led Judson going 2-of-3 with one RBI and one run scored. He tied the game at two in the sixth inning with his third home run of the year. Krueger went 2-of-4 with one RBI and Levi Pippenger was 2-of-2 with one RBI extending his hitting streak to five games.

Trinity International scored two runs in the top of the second inning for the two-run advantage. Judson then cut their lead to one, 2-1, in the bottom of the third on Pippenger sacrifice fly that scored Krueger. McHenry's home run then tied the game in the sixth before Judson gave up one run in the top of the eighth.

In the eighth inning, Andy Parsill started the inning with a single down the left field line. Nick Norris pinch ran for him and advanced to third as Nate Rohl doubled to the same spot in the field. Trinity International then walked McHenry which was followed by Williams' sacrifice fly to tie the game at three. With only one out and a runner on third base, Krueger ended the game with a dinger up the middle for the winning run.

Heath Groves started the game and went 1.2 innings before being forced out of the game due to a shot off of his arm from a Trinity International hit. He gave up two earned runs on three hits. John Banks then went 4.1 innings and had three strikeouts with four hits and no runs. Ed Draper finished out the final two innings for his third win of the year with one strikeout, one hit, and one earned run.

Game 2

Judson 3, Trinity International 0

Continuing their offensive presence in game two, Judson University scored two runs in the second inning and one in the fifth inning to sweep the two-game series. Zach Liebman went the entire distance for the win to improve to 3-1 on the year and recorded four strikeouts.

In the second inning, two straight hits gave Judson the two-run lead. Rohl started the inning off with a triple to right center field and McHenry followed that with a 425 foot bomb over the center field fence to make it 2-0.

Judson then added a third run in the fifth inning when Brian Brauer doubled to left field to score Ben Vincent.

Rohl led Judson going 2-of-3 with one run scored. McHenry had two RBI in the win.

Judson will travel to Whiting, Ind., on Friday, March 25th, to face Calumet College in a single nine-inning game.
